Principal's Message
Dear Pleasant Lane Families,
Welcome to Pleasant Lane Elementary School! We are proud to serve the Lombard District 44 community - specifically families living in the northeastern area of Lombard. Our school is home to approximately 260 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are thrilled to partner with you in your child’s educational journey and welcome you to our Pleasant Lane family.
At Pleasant Lane, our Falcons strive each day to be respectful, responsible, and safe. We are deeply committed to educating the whole child—nurturing both academic growth and social-emotional development—and we hope that commitment shines through in all that we do. Our staff & students celebrate both our individual strengths and differences. We work hard to create a school environment where empathy, kindness, and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring every student feels welcome, known & valued.
Our dedicated staff comes to school each day with a shared purpose: to nurture growth, foster meaningful connections, and provide a safe and supportive space for learning. We are focused on creating a positive school climate where all students are encouraged to embrace a growth mindset, take risks in their learning, grow academically, and work toward reaching their potential. We recognize and embrace the diverse needs of our students and aim to help them grow in confidence, self-awareness, and academic achievement.
We are incredibly fortunate to be part of a community that values strong partnerships between school and home. This collaboration is key to helping students thrive, and together, we can accomplish great things.
It is a true honor to serve as principal of such a special school community. I began my journey at Pleasant Lane as one of our teachers and am so grateful and excited to now be leading our amazing school community. Each year brings new opportunities, new relationships, and new growth—and I am grateful for the chance to support our students along the way. If you ever have questions, concerns, or just want to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warmly,
Rita Tameling
Principal
