Dear Pleasant Lane Families:

Welcome to Pleasant Lane Elementary School!  Pleasant Lane serves the Lombard District 44 community for those residents living in the northeastern area of Lombard.  Our building serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade, with a student body of approximately 260 students annually.     

Our Pleasant Lane Falcons live by the PBIS mantra of being respectful, responsible and safe at all times.  Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) helps the staff and community guide the social-emotional factors we believe are so important when working with children.  We have a genuine interest in educating the whole child and hope that this shines through on a daily basis. We celebrate each other’s strengths and differences, encouraging a kind and caring environment for all.  

Our district curriculum supports the Common Core State Standards.  A variety of resources provide pacing and structure as the dedicated staff works toward helping our students become college and career ready.  In math, we have been utilizing materials from the Eureka Math program to support student learning of the eight mathematical practices.  The district has been using varied resources in order to support the Common Core with regard to ELA instruction. The district is currently using Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) to deliver ELA instruction at the K-2 levels.  Some other resources include Wilson Fundations, EL Education and other scientifically researched based materials. Grades 3-5 are using EL Education materials to teach language arts. Our students have been highly engaged with our new science curriculum that best supports the Next Generation Science Standards.  Social studies curriculum, again, looks at different ways in which we can infuse the learning of social studies standards with language arts as well as being a "stand-alone" subject. Our social studies curriculum now uses resources from National Geographic Panorama in order to address learning standards.  We constantly seek the best materials to help support student learning.

Our conscientious staff revisited the mission statement last school year, determining that our focus is on fostering a healthy, positive learning environment in which all will persevere, be responsible and excel.  We look forward to meeting the diverse needs of our students each year and help them to recognize their strengths and weaknesses as we all learn and grow. A supportive community truly helps foster this introspective approach.  We are fortunate to enjoy a supportive community who believes in the cooperative efforts between school and home. Together, we can accomplish anything.
